International Speech Path, PLLC is an American company, created to provide speech therapy services to children living in other countries. Families of children living abroad have the unique challenge of finding a variety of quality services available to them. Once a family identifies a pediatric therapist who may be able to provide services to their child, they are often placed on a long wait-list. This delays the child from receiving skilled intervention during a critical time of their development. Or a child receives some services through their international school, but families feel that it is not enough and would like to have additional support in the home. Living in countries with limited access to native English speaking speech therapists, does not have to be an obstacle for your child anymore. International Speech Path provides the same quality speech therapy that one can expect from face-to-face speech therapists in the US - through telepractice. From anywhere in the world, your child can have access to a certified speech therapist, and together we can bring your child's voice to the world!

Founder
Karla is the founder of International Speech Path. Karla discovered her passion for teaching others how to communicate while living in Thailand. There, she taught elementary school students and novice Buddhist monks (teenagers) English. Karla moved to Thailand without understanding or speaking Thai and lived with a Thai teacher who did not understand or speak English. This experience provided Karla with the unique opportunity to learn how to live and navigate resources in a country where she was unable to speak the language. After her experience abroad, Karla committed herself to helping others learn how to communicate by: earning her ESL Teaching Certificate from Duke University's Continuing Education Office, earning her Masters degree in Communication Disorders, and becoming a certified speech-language pathologist in North Carolina, US. She has spent years working and directing a special needs preschool while providing early intervention and outpatient services, both in person and via telepractice. Karla is excited to provide those same services to families and their children living outside of the US.
Karla currently lives in North Carolina with her husband, 2 sons, and their dog. Free time for Karla equals family time :).
