Parents and extended family are always interested in new ideas for gifts they can give to their children for birthdays and holidays. I have compiled a few general guidelines that I follow with my own son, nieces, and nephews. These are guidelines that I also follow when purchasing therapy toys/activities. It is important for every family to decide what is important for them and what is reasonable for them. If my guidelines do not fit what your family needs, that’s OK! Do what is best for your family!
I have 5 general guidelines I like to follow when purchasing toys/activities for kiddos:
Battery-free toys!
Toys that can be used for many functions
Toys that your child can grow into
Toy rotation
Buy second-hand; "hand-me-downs" are your friends!
Please see attached PDF for details on ideas for kiddos 2 years old- elementary school.
